Honoring Service: Custom Handgun Presentation Displays for Mesa County Sheriff’s Office

At The Wood Gallery, we take pride in creating handcrafted displays that do more than just hold items—they tell a story. One of our most recent and meaningful projects was building a set of custom handgun presentation displays for the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office in Colorado.

These displays were specially commissioned to honor retiring officers—each one a symbol of commitment, bravery, and years of dedicated service. We were asked to design 10 presentation cases, each custom fit to hold the officer’s service pistol and badge with precision and pride.

Crafted from rich American Black Walnut, each display features a natural satin finish that highlights the character of the wood grain. Inside, a deep green microsuede lining provides a striking contrast, offering a soft and elegant background for the pistol and badge. To complete the piece, we installed a solid brass full-mortise lock, ensuring each display is not only beautiful but secure.

Projects like this are a reminder of the trust agencies place in us to help celebrate their people. It’s an honor we don’t take lightly.
